Election Statement: Burt Totaro

I spent my first term on Council largely on matters arising from the proposal to merge with the IMA, but also in  observing how the LMS works and forming views on how it can  be improved. I would like to devote a second term to some of  these improvements. Internally we need increase transparency  and promote better communication between Council and members,  and among members. Externally we need to focus efforts on  increasing membership and improving the website. To influence  people, we need to interact with them; an engaging, relevant  website is an efficient way to promote mathematics to the  wider society.

Use *your* influence this year. The number of valid votes cast in the November 2008 election for LMS Council was just  under 300.
